Privacy Policy for Kärcher Event App (Version: November 2024) 
The information below explains how your personal data are processed when you use the Kärcher Event App. 

1. Controller of the Kärcher Event App 
The Event App (hereinafter referred to as the ‘App’) can be used on smartphones with an iOS or Android operating system. 
The controller for the following processing of the personal data in the App is Alfred Kärcher SE & Co. KG, Alfred-Kärcher-Strasse 28-40, 71364 Winnenden, Germany, phone: +49 (0)7195/14-0, email: info@karcher.com (hereinafter referred to as Kärcher).

2. Downloading the App 
You can download the App free of charge from the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store. To do so, you must open an account in either the Google Play Store or the App Store and enter your data there. However, these data are not collected by Kärcher, and Kärcher therefore has no influence on data processing and is not the controller in this regard. 
You must also accept the Terms of Use of the app store in question in order to open an account. When you download the App, you must also accept the associated Terms of Use with legally binding effect. 
When downloading the App from an app store, the information needed for this is transferred to the app store, in particular your user name, email address and customer number of your account, the date/time of downloading and the individual device ID. However, we have no influence over the collection of these data and are not the controller in this regard. 

3. Setting up and using the App 
To use the App, you must register as a participant of an event with your email address or log in as a Kärcher employee via Single Sign On (SSO). 
The following information is required for the registration of external participants: 
● first name and last name; 
● email address;
further information can be provided voluntarily. 

4. Use of the Kärcher Event App 
The basic functions of the App consist of: 
● Registration for Kärcher Events 
● Performance of Kärcher events 

The following personal data is required and processed by us to carry out the event: 
● first name and last name; 
● email address; 
● company; 
● division; 
● mobile telephone number. 

further information can be provided voluntarily. 
When using the App, the following data from the respective device is processed for technical reasons. 
● App name; 
● network card (MAC) address, operating system and its version; 
● SSID, network system, displayed IP address, location, time zone and time of sending the network configuration request to our server of the same wireless network accessed by your mobile device; 
● Model, SN code and MAC address; 
● status and error type of your network configuration. 

5. Purpose of the processing and legal basis 
All data shall be processed by Kärcher for the implementation of the events in accordance with Article 6 (1) letter b of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). If necessary to carry out the event, your data shall be passed on to third parties (e.g. hotels, restaurants in order to inform on food intolerances). 
Your data shall not be shared with third parties. Kärcher, however, reserves the right to have the data processed by service providers on behalf of Kärcher in accordance with Article 28 GDPR. As the data processing is necessary for the performance of the contract entered into between yourself and Kärcher, performance of the contract is not possible without the processing of the data. 
The technical data is processed on the basis of legitimate interests in accordance with Article 6 (1) f) GDPR in order to provide a functioning and user-friendly App. 

If an event (or workspace or campaign) uses an Activity challenge advanced module that includes step count data, and participants allow the use of step count on their devices, this data is collected solely to foster engagement. The data is used only within the scope of the challenge for this specific event, reported in aggregate form, and is not retained or processed as health-related data or personal activity profiles.

6. Recipients of personal data 
In addition to the operators of any event locations, the recipients of this data may, for example, include service providers entrusted with IT tasks or providers of services and content used in the App.
In such cases, we comply with the legal requirements and, in particular, conclude order processing contracts (Article 28 GDPR) with the recipients of your data which serve to protect your data. 

Personal data is otherwise not shared with third parties. 
7. Data transfer outside the European Union 
If we process your data in a third country (i.e. outside the European Union (EU), the European Economic Area (EEA)) or the processing takes place in the context of the use of third-party services or the disclosure or transfer of data to other persons, entities or companies, this is only done in accordance with the legal requirements. 
We only process or have your data processed in third countries with a recognised level of data protection or based on contractual obligations through so-called standard contractual clauses of the EU Commission, in the presence of certifications or binding internal data protection regulations (Articles 44 to 49 GDPR). 
8. Storage periods 
We shall retain your personal information for as long as necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, usually to provide the services you have requested. This means, for example, that we store your data until you erase it or the user account. In some cases, we are required to retain your data for longer in order to comply with statutory retention periods. 
9. Your rights, questions and information 
To access and correct your personal data, you can log in to your App account and view the ‘user information’ and ‘settings’ interfaces in order to view or modify the personal data you submitted, manage the receiving address and the associated third-party account, or make relevant privacy 
and security settings. However, for the sake of security and identification, or according to the mandatory provisions of laws and regulations, you may not be able to modify some of the initial registration information you provided at the time of registration. If you cannot access your personal data using the above methods, you can make use of the following rights. 

You have the right to information as to what personal data we store concerning you and whether we do so, to rectify or erase these data, or to restrict the processing of your data, to object to the processing, and the right to data portability. As your personal data are processed for the performance of a contract, you can no longer use the services provided under the contract once you have objected to the processing of your personal data. 
Objection (market research/direct advertising). You can object to the processing of your data for market research purposes or for the purposes of direct advertising at any time. In this case, please send an email to data.privacy@kaercher.com. Once you have objected, your personal data will no longer be processed for such purposes.

10. Competent supervisory authority
As the data subject, you have the right, without prejudice to any other administrative or judicial remedy, to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, in particular in the Member State of your habitual residence, place of work or place of the alleged infringement if you believe that the processing of personal data relating to you infringes these data protection regulations.
